City of Libby

Settled in the 1880’s, Libby was named after miner Stephen Allen’s daughter, Elizabeth or Libby, so the story goes. Libby is a small city of 2,750 residents, located on the beautiful Kootenai River and shadowed by the Cabinet Mountains.

Libby is known as the “City of Eagles.” Several eagle sculptures can be found around town, including three 60-foot eagles, one at each end of town, as well as one majestically perched over the gateway to Libby’s downtown, Mineral Avenue.
