While Northwest Montana’s geographical beauty promises unforgettable experiences year-round, there’s something extra special about those long summer days in Libby. On top of the beautiful attractions like hiking or fishing, there are several one-of-a-kind events to plan your trip around to get the most out of your Montana experience. If there’s one thing we know about Libby, it’s that we know how to throw a party. Actually, we throw a lot of parties.

The Farmers Market at Libby

Thursdays, May 5 – Sept 29

Kicking off the summer season, The Farmers Market at Libby is held each Thursday in the parking lot of the beautiful Fireman’s Park and Libby Area Chamber of Commerce. Browse the booths of many local farmers and producers, artists, and craftspeople. This is the go-to place for picking up local honey, homemade breads, fresh produce and vegetables, and you might even find a unique souvenir to take home. 

Eagle Valley Community Auction 

May 21

Gather in the beautiful Eagle Valley for a fun, family-friendly experience. Some people come to the Eagle Valley Community Auction for food and friendship. Many come to find a bargain, and some come just to hear the lively auctioneers and witness the excitement of items being sold to the happy bidders! Auction items include Amish handcrafted log homes, log cabins, log pavilions, log pergolas, quilts, rugs, handcrafts, indoor and outdoor wooden furniture, etc.

5th Annual Memorial Weekend Car Music & Car Show 

May 29

Make plans to be at the Halfway House Bar & Grill this Memorial Day weekend for the Annual Memorial Weekend Music & Car Show. Spend the day browsing all your favorite classics, and stick around for live music by Area 56 at 5 pm. 

10th Annual Kootenai Highland Gathering & Celtic Games

July 15 & 16

The Kootenai Highland Games and Gathering, sanctioned by the Scottish American Athletes Association, takes place on the third weekend of July at the Riverbend Restaurant each year. This unique event features traditional primitive games, Scottish and Irish clan booths, pipes and drums, and live music entertainment. Attendees can test their skills in axe throwing, stone throwing, and archery contests. There will also be a ‘Nice Legs’ contest, tug-of-war matches, and an all-new Bigfoot Boogie Race.

Kootenai River Stampede PRCA Rodeo

July 29 & 30

The Kootenai River Stampede takes place the last weekend in July each year at J. Neils Park in Libby. This professional rodeo features two nights of action-packed bull and bronc riding, roping, barrel racing, and hilarious clowns. In addition to the PRCA entertainment, there will be kid’s activities, food vendors, and a lively beer garden that’s open until midnight. Purchase tickets for the rodeo here.

Millpond Motocross Race

July 30

Located on an old timber mill site in Libby, the Millpond Motocross Track welcomes fans and riders of all ages for the annual Millpond Motocross Race. Watch over 100 riders battle it out on the supercross/arenacross track and experience the finest racing around! 

13th Annual Riverfront Blues Festival

August 12 & 13

Two fun-filled days of Blues, Brews, and BBQs next to the beautiful Kootenai River, does it get any better than that? The Riverfront Blues Festival invites various bands and performing artists to take the stage each year in the historic Riverfront Park. The event kicks off on Friday, August 12th, and comes to a smashing close after midnight on Saturday, August 13th, with the All-Star Jam! Purchase tickets here.

43rd Annual Big Sky Rendezvous

August 12 – 14

Each year during the second weekend of August, the Halfway House Bar & Grill hosts the Annual Big Sky Rendezvous. Enjoy live country music by many local bands, including headliners Bryan Lloyd, Jam Shack, 3rd Avenue, Shauney & the Fisher River Band, and Copper Mountain Band. Spend a weekend near the beautiful Bull Lake; on-site camping is available.

Ignite the Nites Car Show 

August 18 – 20

Auto enthusiasts of all kinds gather in Libby each year as downtown comes to life with an exhibit of classic and antique cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The Ignite the Nites Car Show is organized by the oldest active car club in Montana, Igniters Car Club. The car show features a weekend full of exciting events such as a downtown cruise, a tire burnout contest, 50’s themed costume contests, and more!

Kootenai Country Montana’s Clash of the Carvers

September 8 – 11

Each year, twenty of the world’s finest chainsaw artists are selected to come to Libby to test their skills against each other to pursue the annual Kootenai Country Montana International Chainsaw Carving Championship. The competitors include carvers from across the United States and around the world. The competition is an intense, four-day event with the artists carving their competition masterpieces and engaging in several hour-long “quick carve” events during scheduled breaks.

Kootenai Valley Quilt Guild’s Annual Quilt Show 

September 9 & 10

The Kootenai Valley Quilt Guild will host their annual Quilt Show on September 9th & 10th in the Memorial Events Center, the perfect venue to browse dozens of locally-made quilts by local artists. Catch a live demonstration by one of the talented club members, shop a variety of vendors, and check out the on-site boutique!  

8th Annual Kootenai Harvest Festival

September 17

Celebrate the ‘growing’ community in Libby at the Annual Kootenai Harvest Festival. Dance to talented local musicians, shop local farmers and artists, and enjoy a delicious, home-grown, garden-to-table meal sourced from local farmers and producers. Children will have a blast in the giant straw pit, playing tug-o-war, or hopping all over in the burlap sack races.

Libby is the right kind of remote and home to so many incredible events, big and small. It truly doesn’t matter when you visit or if your visit is for a day, a weekend or a lifetime, you’ll find live music and other community events most days of the week!
