Turner Mountain

“Steep, Deep, & Cheap”

Located just 22 miles north of Libby in the beautiful Kootenai National Forest lies Turner Mountain. The mountain consists of 2110 feet of drops and 20 runs. Sixty percent of those runs are Black Diamond, 30% More Difficult, and 10% beginner. In-between runs, there’s a beautiful base lodge with a full-service snack bar and lounge.

Snowmobile Trails

East Fork Pipe Creek/Big Creek Baldy 

This is a 66 mile marked and groomed trail. The trail head has a parking capacity of ten cars. A warming hut is located near Big Creek Baldy Mountain.

Keeler Creek Trail

Keeler Creek is a 6-mile marked and groomed trail, and a favorite snowmobiling trail among riders. Keeler leads to the ridge between Montana and Idaho and may be followed into Idaho’s Panhandle National Forest. The trailhead has a parking area for several vehicles. A warming hut is located on the trail divide.

Directions:  From Troy, follow Highway 2 headed southwest for 2 miles. Turn onto County Rd. 384 and follow for 6.5 miles to the junction with Keeler Creek Rd. The trail starts at this point.

Quartz Creek/Seventeen Mile

Quartz Creek is a 47 mile marked and groomed trail. The trailhead has a parking area on Road 600 at the southern access with room for 20 cars.

Directions: From Libby, turn on Highway 2 and take the first left onto River Rd. and follow for 4 miles. Turn right onto Quartz Creek Rd. 400 and follow for 5 miles. Turn left onto West Fork Quartz Creek Bridge and follow for half a mile to the switchback. The trailhead is on the right side and labeled.

Howard Lake Trail

Howard Lake Trail is a 15 mile, marked one-way trip. The common goal for riders on this trail is ice fishing for Rainbow Trout at Howard Lake. The trail ends at Howard Lake Campground.

Directions: From Libby, travel 13 miles south on Highway 2 and turn right onto Libby Creek Rd. Travel 11 miles to the third Libby Creek Bridge. Park there and travel the signs to the lake.

Pete Creek 

Pete Creek Trail is a 18 mile, marked and groomed, trail that offers many open areas and excellent views of the Canadian Rockies and Northwest Peaks, which border Idaho. The route is perfect for intermediate riders looking for numerous play-areas.

Directions: From Troy, travel north 32 miles on FDR 92 to Road 338. Plowed parking is available at the turnoff.

North Creek/Beetle Creek

The North Creek Trail is a 14 mile, marked and groomed, trail that transects to higher elevations and offers spectacular views of the Purcell Mountains, Canadian Rockies, and the Yaak River Valley. Riders also have access to Spread Creek and Pete Creek connections, which are also marked and groomed intermittently.

Directions: From Libby, head north on US Highway 2 to Yaak River Rd. Turn right up the Yaak for about 20 miles to Spread Creek. Turn on Spread Creek and go approximately 1 mile to the intersection road Whitetail Creek.

Marten Creek/Stevens Ridge Trail

This trail is a 42 mile, marked and groomed, trail that loops to Gem Peak and Steven Ridge, as well as the ridge between Montana and Idaho. Riders may enjoy a warming hut found at the Gem Peak saddle. Parking is available for approximately 25 vehicles at the trail head.

Directions: Follow Hwy 200 to Trout Creek. Travel 1/4 mile southwest of Trout Creek and turn southwest and travel approximately 8 miles on Road 2229 to intersection 2229 and the 151 Road.
