TWO RIVERS RONDEZVOUS
Annual Two Rivers Rendezvous sponsored by
the Kootenai Muzzle Loaders
Set in a gorgeous location frequently used by the Kootenai Indians in a bygone time, and nestled in among huge
old ponderosa pines, the Two Rivers Rendezvous is an annual event held at the end of July northeast of Libby, Mt.
in the lower Fisher River valley. Participants commemorate on a personal level an era of American history prior
to 1840 known as the fur trade rendezvous with competitions of skills practiced by long hunters and mountain men.
The various competitions include shooting flint and cap lock muzzle loading arms such as rifles, pistols, and smoothbore
muskets. Skills such as throwing tomahawk and knife, primitive archery, trap setting and fire starting with flint
and steel are also seen.
To complete the experience this all takes place in a primitive camp of tents and tipis where you will find the
participants dressed in period clothes and accoutrements. Among the personal camps sporting all manner of early
American gear you will also find many traders and tradesmen willing to barter you out of your hard earned "plews"
for whatever goods you may desire.
